COPPER BAR

Timeless Favorite

Tapas and entrees crafted with local ingredients, and cocktails handmade by Copper mixologists are perfectly paired with enduring panoramic views.

The iconic Copper Bar is back. Redesigned to embrace its storied past while launching modern traditions for a dynamic future, it’s one of Kohala Coast’s favorite dining and gathering places. Casual, creative tapas and entrees incorporate locally grown ingredients and are easily paired with a selection of craft cocktails, tap beers and wine. Unwind with a handcrafted Mauna Kea Mule and absorb sweeping ocean views that have beckoned travelers for generations.

HAU TREE

On the Beach at Kauna’oa Bay

Step off the beach and into the open-air, Hau Tree restaurant & bar for a causal dining menu which includes sandwiches, wraps, hamburgers, salads, ice cream, our famous Ovaltine Froth, or a cooling Fredrico cocktail. Hau Tree offers sit-down lunches and relaxed dinners on the Big Island of Hawai’i. It’s complete with a gazebo-style bar perfectly situated for enjoying cocktails while anticipating the sunset’s elusive green flash.

NUMBER 3 RESTAURANT

Our clubhouse Number 3 restaurant offers casual island cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere adjacent to the first tee. Golfers, families, or anyone seeking a delicious lunch can enjoy everything from grass-fed burgers, fish tacos and classic Crab Louis to cold beer on tap, frosty fruit smoothies and signature Mauna Kea cocktails.

NEW! Enjoy a fun game of Bocce Ball. We have added two new Bocce courts adjacent to Number 3. If you haven’t played, you’ll be hooked on this fun game, suitable for the whole family, in no time!

The Mauna Kea Luau

Voted #1 Big Island Luau

You fondly remember the soothing sounds of the surf against soulful steel guitars. Laden tables fragrant with imu-roasted kālua pig, island fish, lomi salmon, sashimi, and piles of pineapple and papaya. The sheer delight of teaching your keiki the joy of finger-licking poi, dancing hula to the “Hukilau,” or being wowed by the fire dance. Created for Newsweek magazine back in the 1960s, the Mauna Kea Hawaiian Luau completes the experience with a taste of culture shared by means of music, food, and family tradition on the Big Island.

Traditional Hawaiian Luau Food

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is proud to present the premier Big Island luau, a weekly traditional that has stood the test of time. Many local publications, such as The Hawaiian Islands, Hawaii Magazine, Love Big Island, list our dazzling (and delicious) event as the best luau on the Big Island. The highlight of any Big Island luau is the cuisine. Whether you’re curious about the poi, poke, or kālua pig, you’ll return to your lavish ocean-view suite with a belly full of delicious edibles. We recently wrote about “The Best Hawaiian Food at the Mauna Kea Luau,” an essential read leading up to the event!
